Holiday Open House Near Your McHenry New Homes
As you look around your McHenry new homes, you may not notice the many modern conveniences that we have these days: It’s so easy to take them for granted. However, this season you have the opportunity to see what it would have been like to live in the 1850s by visiting the Living History Holiday Open House on Sunday, Dec. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Glacial Park, Powers-Walker House.
This special event is hosted by the McHenry County Conservation District. Attendees will tour this Greek Revival 1854 restored house that has been decorated for the holiday season. You’ll get a chance to see what it would have been like to live during that time, and you’ll also learn more about the Powers and Walker families who resided in the McHenry area. To make the event authentic, there will be volunteers dressed in historical attire who can answer any questions that you may have.
This educational, yet fun, event is free so make sure and bring your whole family out for a visit. No registration is required.
When you’re finished getting a taste of what it would have been like to live in the 1850s, come back to the modern world by stopping by a Gerstad Builders’ new home community for a tour. We have two locations in the McHenry County area including the quiet sophistication of Liberty Trails and our beautiful Richmond new homes at The Trails of Pheasant Ridge. Both communities offer picturesque settings, customizable homes and convenient locations.
