Corn Maze Roundup Near Gerstad Communities
Winter is coming, but we can enjoy the spectacular beauty during the weeks of fall! Picking apples and pumpkins, sipping hot cider, and spending the afternoon scurrying around a corn maze are the activities that make autumn our favorite season. Our Gerstad team has uncovered some the best apple picking orchards in the McHenry County area, and we even found local areas for watching the summer’s green transform into colorful fall hues. To continue our search for outstanding fall fun located near all Gerstad communities, we have been able to round up the best corn mazes in the area. In addition to the challenging and exciting corn mazes, most places offer extra activities such as hayrides, petting zoos and pumpkin patches.
Stade’s Farm and Market – McHenry
Right in the backyard of our Liberty Trails community, and a short drive from our other communities, Stade’s Farmtractions Theme Park offers a two-acre corn maze that challenges the entire family with Illinois trivia questions. The fun begins at 10 a.m. Friday through Sunday and lasts until 6 p.m. In addition to the corn maze, the theme park also includes hayrides, giant slides, inflatable’s, a petting zoo and much more. A farmer’s market is available with wonderful Fall u-pick fruits. In addition, families can also ride the tractor out to the fields to pick their own great pumpkin. Admission is $15 for ages 3 to 64; $10 for 65 and older, and children age 2 and under are free.
Richardson Adventure Farm – Spring Grove
Located just 10 minutes from Richmond, which features our assortment of 32 new homes at The Trails of Pheasant Ridge, is the popular corn maze at Richardson Adventure Farm. This is the 18th year of the corn maze and offers 28-acres ofmaze, 10 miles of trails, several games within the maze, many entry and exit points and no dead-ends. Regular hours and special hours are located on their website and some activities will cost extra in addition to admission prices. New this fall to guests is two food trucks serving tacos and wood-fired pizza.
Royal Oak Farm Orchard
Thirty minutes from McHenry, Royal Oak Farm Orchard puts a twist on the term corn maze. While they offer a fun maze, it is not made of corn! Instead, it is one of the county’s only mazes composed entirely of mature apple trees. This historical maze is a must-see and is open daily through Halloween. All Seasons Orchard – Woodstock
Located within 30 minutes of all Gerstad communities, All Seasons Orchard features a corn maze that has over 10 acres with more than three miles of pathways and a lookout bridge, plus a challenging path and a shorter path. Some other activities at the farm include a petting zoo, giant swings, mini zip line, wagon ride, and more. Some events are only scheduled for weekends, so visit their website for hours and admission prices.
Pearce’s Farm Stand – Walworth
Forty-five minutes away from Gerstad communities is a traditional corn maze that families praise each and every year. There is something to satisfy everyone’s cravings at Pearce’s Farm Stand with a corn maze, helicopter rides, hayrides and more. This season, they are offering a brand-new professionally designed 12-acre corn maze for an ultimate, fun-filled family experience. For dates, times and admission, visit them online!
Many of the farms and orchards throughout the state are adding a new twist to their maze designs by incorporating images honoring Illinois’ 200th birthday on December 3, 2018.
