Wrapping Up the Last Week of Winterfest at Lake Geneva

winterfestLake Geneva‘s Winterfest is a popular tradition that attracts a diverse amount of people because of its vast array of activities.  Whether it is outdoor adventurists, families or simply those looking to shake the cabin fever, everyone is drawn to the exciting lifestyle that Lake Geneva offers. This is the last week to embrace the seasonal events, enjoy tasty treats and schedule a romantic getaway for Valentine’s Day.

On Wednesday, February 8 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., come warm up at the Winterfest Soup-er Magical Evening where children of all ages will have the chance to sample delicious soups. Area restaurants have come together to whip up enticing concoctions that are sure to dazzle everyone’s taste buds! Harbor Shores is the proud sponsor of this event and will be collecting non-perishable food items and/or donations for Lake Geneva’s local food pantry. Once the illusions of savory soup have cleared your mind, guests are encouraged to participate in one of Lake Geneva’s top attractions, the Live Magic and Illusion Show at the Tristan Crist Magic Theatre. This event will be featured throughout the entire week, giving everyone the chance to watch a motorcycle appear out of thin air and see people levitate and disappear within the blink of an eye.

Escape from the city life into the historic and breathtaking views of 1865 while touring the Maxwell Mansion on February 9 at 11 a.m. Built as a summer getaway, this premier hotel on the lake boats of elegance and relaxation. Once the evening settles in, head on over to the Baker House for their annual “Fire & Ice Lounge” for fireside drinks served in ice cups or have the Baker House’s signature hot toddies. This event will be open until 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. until February 11.

One of the newer outdoor activities, the Human Dog Sled Race, is an entertaining event with teams of six competing to cover a 135-foot course on Lake Geneva Canopy Tours’ 100-acre wooded property. Team members are encouraged to dress in wacky costumes as there is also a prize for the most creative attire. This one-of -a -kind race starts at 10 a.m., but the howling crowds are sure to last all day.

Parking is free throughout Lake Geneva, with both street parking and public lots available. But remember, the lake is not the best place to park!
