Welcome, Winterfest to Lake Geneva
Every winter, a nine-day festival takes place at the intriguing Lake Geneva. Winterfest is native to the U.S. National Snow Sculpting Competition, where fifteen teams of the most talented snow sculptors from around the country compete for a national title. What makes this competition unique is the fact that the public can come watch the artists create their masterpiece from the ground-up. The festival continues with bundles of more fun for all ages as winter-themed events and activities take place throughout the days.
Let the entertainment begin on Saturday, January 27 as the Abominable Snow Race at the Mountain Top Ski Resort at Grand Geneva Resort takes you for some biting four-to-six miles down the mountain with 20 or more obstacles blocking the finish line for one abominable event! The races continue Sunday, January 28 with The Amazing Yeti Race. Grab your friends, family and co-workers to help raise funds for an amazing community organization. Trek around Lake Geneva to find the Yeti or the Pig. At every destination, each team must compete in a series of challenges, the team who is first to arrive at the final destination will be the winner of the race! Once your team has completed the Amazing Yeti Race, come join the one-of-a-kind Human Dog Sled Race.
Wednesday, January 31, the annual crowd favorite, the U.S. Snow Sculpting Competition begins. Snow sculpting teams from across the country will gather to compete for the title of the best sculptor, including the honors of “People’s Choiceâ€, which is bestowed upon the team or individual that best represents the ideals of the competition. This exhibition draws more than 20,000 people each year and concludes with the awards ceremony on February 3 in the Riviera Ballroom.
From magic shows to escaping the clue room and from the chili cook-off to the Cocoa Crawl, there are several events for the entire family to partake in. The annual Winter Carnival begins at 9 a.m. on February 3 and is planned to have a day full of skiing, snowboarding and more snow-filled activities.
