Celebrate Art, Winter and Fun at Winterfest 2019
Every winter, a popular nine-day festival takes place in beautiful Lake Geneva. Winterfest is home to dozens of events including the United States National Snow Sculpting Championship, where fifteen teams of the most talented snow sculptors from around the country compete for a national title. The entire competition is open to the public, so attendees can watch the artists create their masterpiece from the ground-up. Winterfest is a festival that includes bundles of fun for all ages with winter-themes events and activities that take throughout nine days.
Winterfest hosts a Hovercraft Competition with rides, Human Dog Sled Races, The Amazing Ice Castles, Live Music, Magic shows, Helicopter Rides, a Chili Cook-off, Ice Bars and so much more. This is truly an event that the community, and the nation, waits for each year! Beginning on Saturday, January 26, the one-time event of hover craft competitions and experiences will take place from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Wrigley Drive and Boat Launch.
The fun continues January 27, with Bloody Mary Sunday at Freddie’s West End, Grand Geneva Chophouse brunch and the one-of-a-kind Human Dog Sled Race where teams of six compete in a double elimination tournament. There are several unique events planned throughout the days but the one event that always fills fast is the National Snow Sculpting Championship beginning on January 30. More than 20,000 people will watch as snow sculpting teams from across the country gather to compete for the title of the best sculptor.
