Come visit Gerstad Builders at the "Life is a Journey" expo taking place tomorrow, Feb. 21! Presented by the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce, the expo will feature businesses from across McHenry County and give visitors the opportunity to learn more about their community.
The "Life is a Journey" expo is designed to guide businesses along the path of finding their specific interests and audiences. During the event, which is actually an "expo within an expo," businesses will be able to explore a selection of lanes and determine which area best represents their market. Each lane will contain business booths within a certain category or theme, including Senior Street, Children’s Court, Leisure Lane, Home Highway, Health and Fitness Fairway, Financial Frontage and Women’s Walkway. This distinct categorization of each lane will appeal to a wide variety of professionals by helping them easily locate their niche market. Representatives from each business will be available for questions and information at each booth, making this expo a fantastic business-to-business opportunity. […]

From holidays to casual weekend get-togethers, summer is the time of year when we crack open an ice cold beverage while hanging out with family and friends. But, when we’re done enjoying our drinks, what happens to the aluminum cans? Do we just through them away? Here at Gerstad Builders we have a better idea.
Those residing at the McHenry County real estate at Liberty Trails can recycle their aluminum cans all summer long. Cans will be collected weekly and stored until the end of summer. By September, the cans will be sold for cash. The cash will then be donated to a local food pantry.
So good neighbors at Liberty Trails, let’s join together and do a good thing for our community! Save, save, save and then donate. […]
The best way to make you feel good is to get out and help others. April 10 marks the beginning of National Volunteer Week; an event encouraging and celebrating volunteerism. To commemorate National Volunteer Week, Gerstad Builders welcomes owners of McHenry County new homes to join this Not-For-Profit Resource by participating in the “Human Race” on April 16. This is the first "Human Race" in Illinois and McHenry County is proud to host this inaugural event.
The Race is a 5k run/walk to bring the community together and help fund and support local charities. Walkers and runners raise pledges and then have the option to choose which charity they will support. Organizations such as churches, booster clubs, civic groups, PTA’s and more can be registered to receive funds from the race. […]
We all know that it’s important to recycle. However, it’s not always convenient to do so; especially those specialty items such as batteries, light bulbs and Styrofoam. Well, recycling just got easier: The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County is holding its monthly recycling drive on Saturday, March 12 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Metra Station parking lot on Main Street in McHenry. Owners of McHenry County real estate should make sure to stop by to drop off the florescent tubes and other specialty recyclable materials that have been collecting around the house.
The drive is accepting various batteries including rechargeable, car, lithium and button. However, alkaline batteries will not be taken at this time. You can also drop off clean white Styrofoam, packing peanuts and un-popped bubble wrap. If recycling fluorescent tubes, the Defenders ask that you provide a monetary donation to help offset the costs associated with processing this item. […]
