Supporting the McHenry County Community at Fall Diddley

Fall-Diddley in McHenry CountyWe’re heading into the holiday season, which means for some, the newest electronics are top items on wish lists, but for others, nothing beats hand-crafted and homemade. Fine artists, hipsters and consumers are all embracing amazing crafting skills such as knitting, embroidery, silk-screening and much more. It’s that time of the year where McHenry County residents can partake in one of the largest craft festivals in the area.

Our very own Annual Fall Diddley Craft Show is back for its 33rd year at the Boone County Fair Grounds in Belvidere, Illinois. This is an ideal time for the public to connect with artists and hear the stories behind their unique and intriguing works of art. Not only will you find creative displays for your home or to give as presents for the holidays, but you’ll be purchasing quality, hand-crafted work that supports a fantastic cause.

This show supports artisans and vendors in the area while also raising money for more than 18 agencies in McHenry County that are associated with the Mental Health Resource League. The Mental Health Resource League is made up of over 100 volunteers who raise money to help mental health agencies supply the services needed in areas such as crisis hotlines, youth programs, abuse, addictions and developmental disabilities.

Join us on Saturday, October 13th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, October 14th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as more than 300 skilled artisans and crafters, as well as food vendors entertain the public. At the show, you will be able to find original work from selected vendors who will display outstanding folk art, wood carving, dried floral, pottery, painted and appliquéd clothing, jewelry, fine art and so much more.

Admission to the craft show is only $7 for ages 12 and over, and parking is always free. To learn more about the Mental Health Resource League and the Fall Diddley Craft Show, visit www.MHRL.org/falldiddley.
