Fair Diddley – Spring Craft Show

Fair DiddleyIt’s time to get inspired with new color schemes, unique creations and even lawn and garden decorations for your new Gerstad home. As Fair Diddley rolls into the work Square this Sunday, residents can take part in this annual tradition that has been occurring for 49 years! Browse the treasures from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and discover the local talent that McHenry has to offer.

Fair Diddley has been a popular craft show since 1969, and takes place every year rain or shine. Featuring over 350 crafters and artists, as well as food concessions and bake sales, this event gives shoppers a wide variety of unique items to choose from. Handcrafted items include jewelry, soap, dried floral arrangements, folk art, wood carvings, pottery, photographs, home décor, lawn decorations and original clothing. All proceeds from this event, which is sponsored by The McHenry County Community Foundation and The City of Woodstock, benefit mental health-related agencies in McHenry County.

The Mental Health Resource League (MHRL) is an all-volunteer organization with more than 100 members and has come a long way since 1969. In 1969, the first Fair Diddley Craft Show netted $500 for the local mental health agencies that supply services to the community.  In 2016, the League awarded nearly $231,000 to 18 McHenry County agencies. This fun, affordable craft show not only benefits agencies, but is the perfect chance for families to add a personal, local touch to their home décor.

Limited parking is available around the Woodstock Square (marked by the “P” areas on the map). Plus, shuttle buses will be available to take shoppers to and from the Woodstock Square every 10 minutes beginning at 10 a.m. Shuttle buses will pick-up from the west end of the Government Center parking lot and drop-off at the corner of Calhoun and Johnson streets, just outside the Woodstock Square.
